Creating the sun on a rainy day

I made the sun shine!

When my client said that they wanted warm morning vibes for their campaign I knew I couldn’t count on the sun.

The chosen studio faced west, the desired background wall was inset away from the window and the day was over cast and it had been raining all week.

Creating light is one of my passions and for this instance I chose to go with a single light set up and reflector.

Single light? Well there is only one sun and reflector there is no better way to feather the light and build a mix of warm colours out of one light with out gelling and forcing awful orange tone across the entire image.

The reflector used was a 110cm round gold positioned up high to cast long dreamy shadows across the floor and up the wall behind.

This also allowed me to shoot back towards the lights to mimic shooting in to the sun creating golden warm beams of light through Alana’s hair.
